Microsoft releases a new preview in the Canary Channel featuring several visual changes and fixes.

On May 30, 2024, Microsoft began releasing Windows 11 build 26227 to the Canary Channel of the Windows Insider Program. This minor update includes various changes, improvements, and known issues.

Key Updates and Changes

Copilot Integration: The new build transforms Copilot into a resizable and movable app on the desktop. This version of Copilot is a web application installed through the Microsoft Edge browser. Consequently, the Copilot button has been removed from the System Tray and is now pinned to the Taskbar, allowing users to unpin and uninstall it at any time.

Since Copilot is now a web application, it currently cannot change system settings. Additionally, Microsoft has removed the “Windows key + C” keyboard shortcut. To access Copilot, users can use the “Windows key + [app position number]” shortcut or a dedicated Copilot button on the keyboard.

New Emojis: Build 26227 includes Emojis version 15.1, introducing new emojis such as head shaking horizontally and vertically, phoenix, lime, brown mushroom, and broken chain.

Settings App Enhancements: A new “Linked devices” page has been added to the “Accounts” section in the Settings app. This page allows users to manage computers and Xbox consoles connected to the same Microsoft account. This feature is available only for the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11.

Enhance Pointer Precision: Microsoft has reintroduced the “Enhance pointer precision” setting, which was previously available only in the legacy Control Panel. This setting adjusts mouse sensitivity based on cursor movement speed.
