Everyone loves to personalize their phones and WhatsApp wallpapers are no exception. But how do you change the WhatsApp wallpaper on your phone? Is it a quick two-minute process or a long and complicated process? We review the process for Android and iOS.

To change the WhatsApp wallpaper, go to Settings > Chats. There you will see a wallpaper section where you can choose a pre-installed wallpaper or upload an image from your phone’s photo album.
How to change WhatsApp (Android) wallpapers
For those with Android devices – which most of you must be reading this site – here’s how to change your WhatsApp wallpaper.
for all conversations
In WhatsApp, tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner to access a file Settings.
Go inside discussions > wallpapers.
Select the category of wallpaper you would like to have. You can choose between Colors light, dark And united. You can also choose my pictures to access your photo albums.
Select the background you want and press release to apply the changes.
for individual discussions
To set a wallpaper for just one individual contact, go to that particular person’s chat thread. Tap on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, and when the menu pops up, choose Wall papera screen.
You will now be redirected to the wallpaper selection page. Whatever background you choose, it will only be applied to that contact.
How to change WhatsApp wallpaper (iOS)
On the other hand, if you are using an iPhone for your WhatsApp conversations, you may be wondering how to change the wallpaper the Apple way.
for all conversations
Go inside Settings > Chats > Chat background. Click on Choose a new background.
On the next screen, you will be presented with three categories of wallpapers: Colors light, dark And united. You can also choose a photo from your photo albums. For this demo, let’s start with a solid color.

Click on one to view it. If you don’t like it, swipe left or right to browse different colors.
If you don’t like the doodle-like characters on the wallpaper, you can turn them off by toggling the middle switch at the bottom.
When you have the wallpaper you want, tap on Known to save everything.
for individual discussions
If you want to have personal wallpapers and have individual wallpapers for each WhatsApp contact (perhaps Darth Vader for your mother?), this is also possible.
Tap the person’s name in your contacts list, then tap their name again at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to see Wall paperscreen and sound. Click on it and you will be taken to the background selection page.
The wallpaper you select will now be applied to that contact only.
